Mulberry (girls) Secondary School

Promoting ICT in the Curriculum, Literacy and primary Links
Project Aims:
To further develop the work on 'Shape Poems'.
To develop communication links with a local school

Dr. Reha Akinci and Gill Wisher are the teachers in charge of the WWW project at Mulberry (girls) Secondary School. The school is a beacon school. It has 8 ICT rooms and each faculty will have access to an ICT suite when the new building work has been completed. Broadband has just been installed so the school hopes this will provide a boost to its online activities.

Under the project the school has developed an English/ICT unit called Shape Poems, where pupils use ICT to present poems which are arranged in different shapes. The school hopes to see a conversation develop around this using Think.com as a publishing medium. The unit on Shape Poems will be developed further from January.

The school hopes to develop links with a local primary school as a means to develop communication. One possibility is to explore the use of videoconferencing.

We will record the school's progress with the project next term and report it on these pages.
