St Paul's C of E Primary School

Promoting communication skills
Project Aims:

To develop the use of ICT for development of communication in second language learners
To compare the progress and outcomes to work produced using ICT and work using conventional media.

Terry Bennett is head of St Pauls' C of E Primary School, situated in the Tower Hill Area.
St Paul's is a one form entry school.

The school has a relatively small ICT room that can accommodate half a class at a time.
"We realise that laptop computers offer us a way forward, given that we are quite tight on space here. We would also be interested in investigating the use of wireless laptops so that pupils could pick up thier work from anywhere in the school. We would like to integrate the ICT work with general curriculum ICT work whilst seeing what the benefits are when ICT is used."

Nolan Barnwell is the ICT Coordinator. "We are pleased with the ICT work we are doing, particularly in years 1 and 2 where a structured ICT course is used. It is a good scheme. We can see progression in pupils' use of ICT from year 1 to year 6. We would be interested in seeing how the Wapping project could help us in taking our ICT work further, and also look at how ICT can be used to promote good standards across subjects."

We will record the school's progress with the project over the next two terms and report it on these pages.
